CDER Who We Are

The Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) performs an essential public health task by making sure that safe and effective drugs are available to improve the health of people in the United States.

As part of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), CDER regulates over-the-counter and prescription drugs, including biological therapeutics and generic drugs. This work covers more than just medicines. For example, fluoride toothpaste, antiperspirants, dandruff shampoos and sunscreens are all considered drugs.

No, you don’t need to apply to a job advertisement or vacancy announcement before attending the event.
No, you will not be guaranteed an interview.
Include a recent copy of your resume. Ensure your resume does not include the following: classified or government sensitive information, Social Security Number (SSN), photo, or personal information such as date of birth, gender, and religious affiliation. Other documents may be required as part of the hiring process but will be requested later.
While we can’t provide or guarantee interview opportunities outside of the virtual hiring event, we can keep your qualifications on-hand for hiring managers to consider for future vacancies. Please be sure to register even if you cannot attend so that we will have your resume and other information on file.
If a hiring manager is interested in moving to the next phase of the selection process after your interview, you will be asked to supply references. There may be instances in which you will be asked to participate in a second-round interview; this is up to individual hiring managers. After reference checks are performed, an Administrative Officer who will contact you for any remaining documentation so that a request for tentative offer of employment can be issued.
If selected for a position, official transcripts will be required prior to appointment. Applicants who obtain a degree in a foreign university in another country will be required to have their education evaluated by a credential evaluation service. To be accepted for Federal employment, foreign education must be equivalent to education or degrees acquired at accredited colleges, universities, or educational institutions in the United States.
Salary is set based on qualifications and experience of the candidate.
